When and how did the Lord save you?
My parents faithfully took me to Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, Sunbeams, GAs, and really, any time the doors of the church were opened. In 4th grade, our church had an old-fashioned revival, and I received Jesus into my heart. I can clearly remember coming up out of the baptismal waters and realizing I was a new creation. I grew up thinking that if I went to church, didn’t drink, cuss, or dance that God would love me more. I got caught up in pleasing others rather than seeking an intimate relationship with Jesus. My young adult years were spent serving in the church and just being busy, following all the rules. Then, I joined my first Bible study group. I started learning who God was by truly studying His Word. The more I learned about Him and His character, the more I wanted to know Him. I realized that my relationship with God was not about checking off my list of do’s and don’ts; it was about knowing Him, glorifying Him, and praising Him. Sometimes I fall back into my old mindset, and then God will show me who He really is—blessed redeemer, beautiful savior, loving Father. I know that God will continue to reveal more and more of Himself to me.
