TVC Responsibilities:
I have the great privilege of getting to be in Kids Village spaces each weekend, making sure we are a welcoming home to kids, families, and volunteers. I am responsible for editing curriculum, lining up teachers, and preparing props and slides.

When and how did the Lord save you?
I heard the gospel at an event for incoming 6th graders, and, seated quietly in my chair, too scared to walk down to the front, I believed and “asked Jesus into my heart” with very little understanding of what that meant. The Lord planted and grew a very humble seed of faith, and He set me on a path of ever-increasing light and freedom through the finished work of Christ. I became the quintessential youth group kid. As a firstborn quite adept at rule-following, I learned the rules and excelled at “church.” I didn't know it then, but I was stuck in fear and entangled by my deep drive to be “good enough.” I was far from walking in the fullness of what Christ offered, but He continued to give me an insatiable desire for more of Him.

When did you come to TVC and what brought you here?
I started attending TVC in early 2007. I was still in school at Texas A&M, but people were passing around burned CDs of Matt Chandler’s sermons (yes, this dates me). I grew up in the area and was back and forth many weekends, so when I would come home, I attended The Village. I graduated in May 2008 and moved back to the area. TVC has been my church home ever since.

If you had to give a TED Talk, what subject would you choose to speak on, and why?
Mine would be on why more adults should read (or re-read) excellent juvenile fiction. Some of the richest and most truth-saturated books I’ve read in my adult life have been written “for children.” These writers are masters of their craft, use language intentionally, and their books have expanded me in ways that exceed what I could have taken from them when I was their target audience.

If you were to have your childhood dream job, what would your job be?
I would be a writer.

Which fictional character would you be friends with in real life, and why?
Leslie Knope from Parks and Recreation. She is loyal, hilarious, and has so much gumption.
